Anke
She took over her first jewelry store in 1997 and has also been buying and selling jewelry for 20 years. Anke has taken part in countless training courses and shines with almost endless expertise and enthusiasm for jewelry, gemstones and watches.

Mick has been designing and developing websites since he was 13 years old. He is not only responsible for our IT but has also designed and programmed our entire website and webshop by hand.

Wie alles begann
The first jewellery shop
On the East Frisian North Sea island of Borkum, Anke discovered her enthusiasm for jewellery and watches in 1990 at the traditional jeweller "Heiden", where she completed her training as a retail saleswoman for watches and jewellery. In 1996, as a young mother, she took over the shop - renovated, modernied and managed it with great commitment for several years. Her passion for jewellery, watches and gemstones and her commitment to excellent customer service remain unbroken to this day.

Her son Mick grew up in the middle of the jewellery shop - but his fascination was with the emerging world of computers: at the age of 13, he was already programming his first websites and trying his hand at 3D modeling. This early passion later became a profession - and ultimately an important part of Frau Dora.
A new start in Düsseldorf
After moving to the Rhineland, Anke began a new chapter in 2002: for 18 years she worked at the renowned pawnbroker Werdier in Düsseldorf. There she honed her specialist knowledge, learned to value jewellery, watches and old gold accurately and underwent continuous and extensive training. Today, she is a certified diamond valuer.
At the same time, Mick was already working as a freelance web designer and web developer for well-known large companies thanks to the in-depth experience of his hobby, while also studying computer science at the Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences.
Luxury jewellery on Königsallee
As part of a new career start, Anke takes on a responsible position in the upmarket jewellery trade at a renowned company on Königsallee in Düsseldorf. There she combines her expertise with daily practice: she takes on responsibility for valuations, research and product descriptions and thus becomes a mainstay in buying and selling.
The birth of Frau Dora
Together with his grandmother Dora, Mick founded the company "Frau Dora" at the end of 2023. A project close to his heart, which Mick developed with Dora's support over a year and a half on the side - from the logo and design to the website and webshop. Everything was painstakingly created by hand, step by step. Did you know? "Frau" means "Mrs" in German, therefor "Frau Dora" translates to "Mrs Dora".

After Anke ended her previous employment relationship, it was immediately clear that she would join the company as a partner at the beginning of 2025. For Mick and Anke, there was also no question that the part-time job would become a full-time one and that Frau Dora would be their future together. A company in which decades of experience, knowledge and passion come together in a natural way - as if it was meant to be this way from the very beginning.
